Biodiversity

The coast around North Berwick is included in the Firth of Forth Special Protection Area and is a designated Ramsar (wetland) site. The islands of the Forth and North Berwick Law are SSSIs, the latter being of considerable geological interest. Evidence-based management plans are in place for all the significant open spaces in North Berwick. These plans stress the importance of co-operation between statutory and voluntary groups and NBIB is involved with or linked to them all.

In 2023 NBiB volunteers planted seagrass seeds at Tyninghame bay as part of the Restoration Forth project
